Today was such a cool day! We drove out to Zirowbe to meet up with the village team for a march for Education. Wilson spoke to us Thursday night and shared with us that we would be going to the village to promote the importance of education to both the kids and the parents. Apparently in the villages, there is still a mentality of education not being important. Parents have kids to work in the fields or do chores around the house so that the parents don't have to do them. Empower a Child's training center will include job training and a school. We would be having a march with a band to round up the parents and the children. After the march we would be having a program where people would be speaking including people from the school, Wilson (our director) and an international spokesperson. It was then, that Wilson asked for volunteers, then proceeded to say wait, are there any teachers here, knowing that i am the only one. SO basically i was the plan all along but the only person who didn't know it was me! After the speakers we would be feeding the village, then we would be having each of the kids throw a paper airplane to launch a new mindset on the importance of education.
The airplanes all had empowering or encouraging messages about school on them.
Amy and Sarah brought up the rear with Bogare' ... He's a team favorite!
I had such an amazing time with Bogare's family.. here i am with his mom and sister Joanne (AND some other villagers too)
