I have a big head... and little arms.

SO i got my shots for Africa Wednesday. I thought that i was quite possibly going to die. BUT luckily 5 shots and 420 dollars later.
I am now a super human. I am immunized against every disease known to man.

It was a much better experience this go round then when i got my shots for China. Last time, i thought that if i didn't have TB before i walked in for the test, i would certainly have it by the time the results came back, just from walking in the door at the health department! The people were nice, they spoke English. I was in and out quickly and they even said my name. They kept calling numbers, and i thought i was missing my turn but didn't know it. I thought i was missing out on something because when you're there for an STD test they apparently give a number rather then your name. I have never been so glad to hear my name in my life. I certainly wasn't there for that test. HAHA

In the grand scheme of life the shots actually weren't that bad... other then the MMR shot that burned! The nurse told me that they give the shot to kids last because it hurts. She wasn't kidding. When I made the decision to get that shot, i asked the nurse if i was going to wake up with Autism. She did NOT think that i was funny but when i told her i was a special education teacher and i was kidding, she did chuckle... a little.
I am happy to report that i did not wake up with Autism! WOOHOO. I did however wake up with a killer headache and arms that did not move above the elbow. I felt like a T-Rex. Talk about a dead arm! Holy cow. 3 shots in one arm, and 2 in the other. Reaching for things was rough, and there was certainly no yoga. All things i am willing to miss out on for the safety in knowing i do not have to worry about an outbreak of any of these diseases while in Africa. Next up.. anti-milaria pills and my epi-pen prescription.

Count down: 42 Days!
